  • As the industry standard software for 2D drawing and detailing, AutoCAD is an essential tool to learn if you want to become proficient in 2D computer aided design for your career. This advanced level qualification will give you the knowledge and skills you need to achieve success in this field.

You’ll learn how to use AutoCAD to its full potential, looking at complex dimensioning routines, block & symbol design and building and site plans. You’ll explore layering systems and different line type styles, creating isometric drawings within the 2D environment and then producing hard copies of these.

As you work with a variety of advanced engineering drawings, you’ll learn how to make inquiries of existing files and place reference points, as well as changing the properties of a number of drawn items. As this is a comprehensive overview of AutoCAD, you’ll also discover methods to remove unused items and rename other items logically.

  • If you’d like to enrol on this Level 3 Computer Aided Design (2D) course, you’ll need to have previously completed a Level 2 2D qualification. You must also have access to a computer suitable for CAD software, as some work will be completed at home.

  • Assessment for this course is made up of two practical assignments to put your skills into practice, and one GOLA online test that will cover your underpinning knowledge.

  • After completing this Level 3 course, you’ll have an extensive understanding of AutoCAD software and expertise in its use. You could expand your knowledge further with higher-level courses in the specialism, or also explore 3D modelling alongside this 2D course.

With your skills in computer aided design, you’ll be able to pursue a wide range of careers in the engineering, manufacturing and construction industries as a CAD Technician or related role. (link to relevant career page)Look at potential careers here !
