This course will be running at Wythenshawe Campus from September 2022 however if you prefer to study at Harpurhey Campus this will be running from September 2023.

If you are interested in the aviation industry, this course is designed to give you the basic knowledge and understanding of aviation operations, allowing you to move into specialised areas of study and develop new skills.

There are fourteen units to complete that comprise of both written work and role play:
• Health and safety within aviation
• Aviation security
• Aviation communications
• Airport check in services
• Aircraft boarding and arrival services
• Airport baggage processing
• Loading and unloading of aircraft
• Airport baggage facilities
• Aviation passengers with special requirements
• Aircraft load instruction reports
• Aircraft marshalling
• Support flight operations
• Aircraft dispatch process
• Employment rights and responsibilities in the passenger transport sector.

As part of this course, you are expected to carry out a work experience placement. Due to the enhanced checks of working at an airport and the minimum age requirements, you are likely to undertake placements within the travel and tourism sector, which will provide transferable skills to the aviation industry.

Work Experience is a vital part of the course and you will be supported in finding a work placement relevant to your study.

This course will be assessed through course assignments, role plays, short question and answer sheets, practical work and exams.

Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners will be able to progress onto the following courses:
• Level 2 in Cabin Crew
• Level 3 in Aviation Operations
• Level 3 in Travel and Tourism
Progress onto Higher Education with UCEN Manchester:
• Access to HE Diploma in Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism
