If you’re considering a career as a bricklayer in the construction industry and are ready to start developing your skills, then this City & Guilds Diploma Level 2 in Brickwork is the perfect course for you.
You’ll cover a wide range of areas during this course, giving you the knowledge and abilities to follow a rewarding career as a bricklayer. This includes learning how to interpret working drawings in order to set out masonry structures, how to produce thin joint masonry and masonry cladding, and how to build both solid and cavity walling.
This diploma is widely recognised in the construction industry and could lead to a job as a bricklayer, working for a number of different companies and firms. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop your functional skills in English and maths.
To enrol on this course, you’ll need to have relevant GCSE qualifications at grades A-C, but we will also take into account any previous experience too. You’ll also be asked to take an initial assessment in English and maths, along with an interview, before we offer you a place on this diploma. How will I be assessed?
Throughout this course, you’ll complete a range of practical, hands-on assessments in the workshop to build up your individual portfolio. You’ll also take some exams covering health and safety, the principles of building, and questions relating to the trade area.
Continuing Your Journey
When you have successfully completed this Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying, you’ll be able to advance your knowledge and skills even further on a Level 3 Diploma with us here at The Manchester College.
From here, you’ll be well qualified to pursue a career as a professional bricklayer, with a number of roles open to you in the construction industry, including working for building companies, housing associations or for yourself on a self-employed basis. Link to Careers or Link to Careers 2
