  • The BA (Hons) Business Management (Marketing Management) is designed to produce graduates who will have a critical and comprehensive understanding of marketing management and the relevant skills to go on to follow a wide range of careers in the marketing sector within multiple organisations. The course aims to provide a challenging broad business education that balances theory and practice with personal development and the development of transferable and discipline specific skills in the field of marketing. The programme provides the basis for the progressive development of intellectual knowledge and understanding with vocational skills and competences that enhance student employability and develop creative, innovative, students. It promotes work experience and real world practical business engagement through modules that give students practical exposure to marketing techniques. The programme embraces the changing nature of the contemporary business environment and its impact on business processes, transactions and the role the individual plays as an enterprising leader. It seeks to prepare students for the diversity and complexity that accompanies a globally integrated and internationally focused business environment. Business and Marketing seeks to develop students who have a good grasp of the functions of business and their integrated nature. The course seeks to develop this and prepare students for working in fast-paced organisations where change is rapid and the thinking needs to be creative and innovative. We want student to challenge the orthodoxy and be comfortable in situations when most managers would feel uncomfortable.
    This degree combines fundamentals of business and marketing knowledge and an understanding of the corporate strategies to provide the key skills necessary to engage and interact within the business environment.

    There are six 20 credit core modules to complete within this programme.

    Academic and Professional Excellence
    This module aims to support students in developing cognitive, metacognitive, interpersonal, technological, professional and academic skills to enable them to successfully engage with their studies at level 6 and to progress successfully to post-graduate study. It is designed to assist students in developing specified subject-specific and employability skills alongside the development of linguistic competence.

    Implementing Strategy and Change
    This module investigates the variety of strategic options available to organisations. Creating potential strategies leads to option selections, where options are evaluated to decide whether they should be acted upon. The screening of options is done on the basis of evaluating the suitability (relevance to the strategic position), acceptability (to stakeholders) and feasibility (resource implications). A critical and practical perspective to challenge the paradigms of strategic management will enable you to question whether these still have a place in today's ever-changing globalised world.

    Brand and Reputation Management
    This module aims to provide students with an understanding of the role and importance of branding in the context of contemporary global marketing practice. Students will understand the impact of branding and reputation on performance of an organisation and related business functions. On completion of the module students will be able to both apply and evaluate brand strategies in a wide range of organisational contexts.

    Marketing Operations Management
    In this module students will learn to help companies to build powerful, integrated go-to-market systems. We think of an effective go-to-market system as the missing link between a company’s strategy - its decisions about where to compete and how to win and the exceptional customer experiences that are the ultimate path to success. Such a system enables a company to identify attractive target customers and design value propositions tailored to those customers’

  • To top up your qualification to a BA degree, you’ll need to already have a foundation degree that’s related to business and marketing. This should be at Level 5 or equivalent, and you should be able to show you hold 240 credits from your previous course (usually 120 credits at both Level 4 and Level 5).
    Alternatively, you may hold an HND qualification in business, or have an international equivalent. If you are applying from overseas, you’ll also need to have an overall IELTS score of 6.0 to show us your skill with the English Language.

  • You’ll be studying six different modules on this course, and each will be assessed in a variety of ways.
    You may find yourself completing an individual report or a group project. You’ll also be making presentations and submitting business plans, researching case studies and solving problems given to you.

  • With a BA (Hons) degree in Business and Marketing, you’ll be well equipped for a promising career in any number of roles, and you’ll have the qualifications you need to complete a master’s degree in a business-related subject too!
