Do you see yourself as the next Jeff Bezos, Richard Branson or Mark Zuckerberg? Would you like nothing more than to grow a business from conception to a multi-million turnover? Have you got what it takes to succeed in the fast-paced, ever-changing business world? An A-Level in Business Studies could help you find out.
You’ll be introduced to this dynamic subject with a look at the key aspects of decision making in business, covering departments like marketing, operations management, human resources, and accounts & finance. You’ll explore manager types and leadership styles, and understand how these impact upon decisions made and strategies implemented.
Throughout the AS and A-Level, you’ll constantly be analysing and evaluating business performance in the real world, identifying opportunities for strategic change and potential methods to improve success! You’ll even take a closer look at some of the ethical issues affecting the business world, such as employee working conditions and tax payments.
To enrol on this A-Level course, you’ll need to have at least five GCSEs at grade C or above, including both Maths and English Language. A GCSE in Business Studies is helpful but it isn’t essential, although you should definitely be enthusiastic about business and current affairs. How will I be assessed?
There is no coursework for this A-Level. 100% of your mark will be based on exams, with three papers sat at the end of the second year which include multiple choice questions, case study questions, essay questions and questions based on data provided.
Continuing Your Journey
With this qualification, you’ll be able to apply for a university-level degree of your choice, with a huge number of courses related to Business Studies. These include Business Economics, Management, Marketing, Business Law and Business & Computing.
You’ll then be on the path to a successful career in the business sector, with a number of roles and opportunities to choose from, covering areas as diverse as investment banking, operations management, marketing, and financial journalism! A-Level courses like this one are completely free for anyone aged 16-18 and progressing from school.
