If you’re already working in the legal sector – or you’re about to be – and would like to advance your skills in the profession and take your career to the next step, this Level 3 Professional Diploma, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, is the ideal course for you.
The CILEX Professional Diploma in Law & Practice gives you the chance to qualify professionally as a lawyer, whilst you’re working, so that you can earn as you learn. You’ll build up ‘qualifying employment’ experience in the legal sector, and learn all the necessary skills and knowledge you’ll need during afternoon and evening classes one day a week.
For this two-year Level 3 Diploma, you’ll cover a range of topics in the classroom, beginning with an introduction to law & practice and legal research. You’ll look at criminal law and criminal procedure in year one, before moving on to tort, civil litigation and family law in year two. As part of the course, you may also be able to take part in observational visits to the Crown Court, Employment Tribunal and Magistrates’ Court.
To enrol on this course, you’ll need to have at least 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A to C in mainly academic languages. This should include English Language.
Alternatively, you’ll be able to demonstrate a reasonable amount of good quality legal experience. We’ll invite you down for an interview and may ask you to sit a short ‘English skills’ written assessment.
Due to Government changes to grading systems for GCSEs in 16/17, please follow the below link to see specific entry criteria for school leavers School Leaver Entry Requirements.
How will I be assessed?
During this Level 3 CILEX Diploma, you’ll be assessed in a number of different ways, depending on the unit of study. This will include multiple-choice tests, practical-based tasks, case study assignments, and some exams.
