Course Details

  • Whether you’re hoping to gain employment or just upgrading your skills in networking engineering, this Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) course will enhance your skills and understanding of Cisco Internetworking and give you a range of abilities that will be highly regarded.

This semester is stage one out of four in the series of networking courses. It will introduce the architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the internet and computer networks, giving you a general grounding in network knowledge. The principles of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations are also introduced to you, in order provide a foundation for the curriculum.

By the end of the course – which takes place over two evenings a week – you’ll be able to build simple LANs, perform basic configurations for routers and switches, and implement IP addressing schemes including VLSMs.

  • There are no formal requirements for this Cisco Networking course, but you should ideally have Level 2 qualifications (or equivalent) in English and Maths to gain the most from the programme.

  • Throughout the duration of the course, you’ll complete eleven online tests in class, one final online exam, and one final work-based practical exam.

If you complete semester one & two, you’ll be able to take the professional CCENT exam, and if you complete all four semesters, you can take the full professional exam for CCNA.

  • The ideal next step after completing this first stage of the Cisco Certified Network Associate course is to progress onto semester two - Routing & Switching Essentials. After completing this, you’ll have the knowledge and skills to complete the CCENT professional exam and gain formal qualification.

This will help you to develop the expertise and experience in advanced networking, and enable you to secure or advance in a network engineering role in the computing & IT industry. Link to Careers
