Designed to provide both the analogue and digital skills required by professional photographers in the modern world, this Foundation Degree in Contemporary Photographic Practices is ideal for anyone with creative flair and a passion for success in this industry.
Combining both theory work and research with practical assignments, you’ll learn all about the cultural history and design practice of photography, exploring a wide variety of images in a number of contexts, from fashion and street style to advertising campaigns and designer look-books. You’ll then develop the technical skills required for art direction and digital publishing.
You’ll always be encouraged to experiment, both in your shoots and as you learn more about digital image production and manipulation. With live briefs set by employers, you’ll be working in real environments, building relevant skills and relationships, and developing a wide knowledge of photographic practices in the industry. This course is validated through Manchester Metropolitan University.
Along with a portfolio of relevant creative work, you’ll need to have either a BTEC Level 3 Diploma with a minimum grade of Merit, Pass, Pass, or a BTEC Level 3 Certificate with a Merit, Merit or above in an art or design related subject area.
This will be a minimum of 160 UCAS points. Alternatively, you’ll have an equivalent Level 3 qualification. If you’re a mature applicant (aged 21 or over), you should be able to show us the relevant skills and experience you’ve gained whilst working in an industry role.
How will I be assessed?
The entire assessment for this foundation degree will be based on your photographic portfolio and coursework.
