Famya's art chosen for Manchester Open Exhibition

College student's artwork will be on display at HOME.

English, Writing and Media student Famya Faraz is having her artwork exhibited at HOME's Manchester Open Exhibition, for the third time after successfully entering a piece of work.

Famya's selected piece is inspired by Dungeons and Dragons and draws on influences from manga, comic books and graphic novels.

Famya hopes to one day write and illustrate her own comics and enrolled at The Manchester College to help her achieve that goal. She's already a talented artist, but Famya says that studying Access to HE Diploma (Professions in English, Writing and Media) is "helping me have more confidence in my written English."

HOME's Open Exhibition celebrates the artistic talent found in Greater Manchester. A panel of experts and community representatives selected paintings, prints, sculptures, mixed media, and other pieces submitted by established, new and emerging artists. The exhibition runs until April 28.

Transcript

Hi, my name is Famya Faraz. I am on the access to HE English, Writing and Media course.

We are at HOME theatre as my artwork is in their art gallery at the moment.

My piece is my two personal characters from Dungeons and Dragons.

I would say I'm influenced by a lot of animation and manga. I've always had a passion for that sort of thing.

The English, Writing and Media course is helping me have more confidence in my written English just because I want to write my own comics and graphic novels and stuff like that.
