Hair and beauty students scoop North West College Cup for 4th time

Students from The Manchester College’s hair and beauty department celebrated resounding success at this year’s Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) North West regional heats in Blackpool when they were named Overall College Cup winners for the fourth year running.

The team of talented students from the college’s Harpurhey and Northenden campuses were placed in eight of the nine categories the college entered, which included first place in four of the categories - Nail Art, Ladies Evening Hairstyle, Total Look Team Event themed as Strictly Come Dancing and Gender Transformation.

Assistant Principal Liz Peters said: “The AHT competition showcases the best in hair and beauty talent in colleges across the region and to be named overall College Cup winners for a fourth consecutive year is an amazing achievement. I’d like to congratulate all our students who entered the competition, they performed to a very high standard and we are very proud of the hard work and enthusiasm displayed by all of them.”

The students who were placed in the regional heats will now take part in this month’s national finals at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
