Theatre and Performance lecturer Wayne Steven Jackson launches a new production in Hull this weekend
Wayne’s performance Now/Then launches in Hull on Saturday 1 April. Taking the audience on a taxi journey around his hometown of Hull, the performance forms part of Wayne’s PhD research project.
He explained: “Now/Then will take you on a journey through the streets of Hull, where your home is the backdrop, the live city is the stage, and your memories are the story. It’s a 20-minute taxi ride that can accommodate up to six people.
Each individual journey is informed by the memories and stories of its new set of passengers
“Beginning and ending on Victoria Pier, passengers will be driven around the city. Each individual journey is informed by the memories and stories of its new set of passengers, accompanied by a soundtrack that blends music, narration, conversation and observation.”
Through Now/Then Wayne explores the process of staging an autobiographical performance. His show runs until 30 June at Horse Wash, on Victoria Pier and forms part of Hull’s City of Culture celebrations.
