Health, Care & Wellbeing

There’s arguably no greater reward in life than helping another person. All our courses in health, care and wellbeing are designed to give you the real life skills and experience to take care of others, support those in need – both young and old – and follow a successful, meaningful career path.

A rise in jobs for care workers, home carers, nurses and nursing assistants is predicted, with an estimated 45,000 new roles expected to be available in health and care by 2022. It’s already the second largest sector in Greater Manchester and our courses utilise close connections with organisations and businesses to always reflect the changing roles and requirements in this diverse industry.

  • As well as our courses helping you to understand a wide range of theories and factors at play in care and education, many also place a strong emphasis on practical work experience. We have two custom-built care rooms at our campuses and excellent partnerships in a wide range of national care homes, so you’ll be able to learn on the job and enjoy lots of work placement opportunities. You might also find yourself in one of our on-site nurseries, exploring first-hand how children play and interact!

  • Many of the tutors in health, care and wellbeing are qualified professionals, with years of experience working in their chosen fields as early years educators, nurses or social workers. They bring with them a wealth of knowledge to pass on to you and some great industry connections to support your future career, including a number of opportunities for industry placements.

  • Whether you’re interested in pursuing a career in childcare or social work, we have an amazing selection of courses to choose from, each one helping you to the next stage of your journey to amazing. You could begin with a Level 1 Diploma in Caring for Children, and continue with The Manchester College right through to a BA (Hons) Integrated Health & Social Care.

  • Health, care and wellbeing courses at every level are taught across a number of our campuses, centred on Northenden, Harpurhey, and Openshaw. It’s at our Openshaw Campus that you’ll find our degree level courses in health and social care.

We have had a number of students on placement at Holy Trinity School and have been impressed with the students on all courses. We have found them to be hardworking and up to date with relevant theory. We have been lucky enough to offer two students jobs, one who is currently undertaking Elkin training to support children with speech and language difficulties.

Whilst on placement at Charlestown Primary School, I have felt happy and welcomed by all the staff and children. I have enjoyed working in Team 2 and feel as though I have learnt new things from the teachers that I worked with. It has been a really valuable experience for me.
