This qualification will teach you the skills needed to work effectively as a professional chef in industry. This course covers key modules to advance learners' skills including planning, preparing and finishing dishes, food safety for catering, advanced meat, poultry, game, fish and shellfish as well as advanced vegetable and vegetarian dishes.

To apply for this course applicant should hold a Level 2 qualification in culinary skills or have relevant experience within the industry. Applicants should also be able to evidence a functional skills qualification for English and maths or equivalent GCSE's.

Students will be assessed throughout the course through practical assessments, their development of a portfolio of work and an external examination.

Upon successful completion of this course students can use these qualifications to work towards becoming skilled in their ideal job in the hospitality and catering industry. Job roles in this sector include chef, cook, kitchen and catering assistants. Students may also wish to use their qualification and industry experience to apply for higher level management roles or qualifications.
