Anyone dealing with manufacture and repair or accident repairs on light vehicles may have contact with air conditioning systems during their regular work. This course gives technicians in the motor industry the confidence and accreditation to demonstrate their abilities in this area.
You’ll need to have the skills, experiences and abilities to pass the assessments for two modules on this course: refrigerant handling, and refrigerant cylinder handling. You should be able to reconnect the air conditioning system to recover refrigerant and after evacuating and recharging, refill with the correct level of refrigerant and oil.
You’ll be fully compliant with safety requirements and industry regulations for F-Gas, ensuring there are no leaks of refrigerant into the air. When you’ve completed the assessment, you’ll receive full Automotive Technician Accreditation of your skills in this area from the IMI. This lasts for three years.
To enrol on this short course, you’ll need to be able to work unsupervised and have a minimum of three years’ industrial experience. Alternatively, you may have a relevant automotive qualification with vocational experience.
How will I be assessed?
Each of the units for this accreditation will be assessed via practical assignments and an online test.
Continuing Your Journey
