The course lasts one year, and is both practical and theory based, as you learn about, interact and work with a wide range of animals. You’ll learn how to look after their health and welfare, and take part in practical animal feeding, as well as understanding the appropriate areas for different animals to live and sleep in and discovering how to maintain this accommodation correctly.
You’ll get an introduction to the principles of animal behaviour, learn how to care for zoo animals, and develop a good understanding of British wildlife species and their habitats. As part of the course, you’ll also spend one day a week on a work experience placement within the animal care industry.
