Course Details

  • This qualification will introduce students to a variety of animal care methods, and to give them an insight into the animal care industry. Students will take part in practical and work related skill sessions that will teach them the basics of feeding, handling and safely transporting animals. Areas covered by this course include reptile handling, companion animal handling, receiving and storing feeds, transportation of animals, and health and safety.

    Work Experience is a vital part of the course and you will be supported in finding a work placement relevant to your study.

  • Assessments for this qualification are made up of a variety of practical activities, written tasks and course work.

  • Upon successful completion of this qualification students will be able to progress onto a Level 2 Animal Care course. Students can also use this qualification to work towards becoming skilled in their chosen career. Roles in the animal care industry include a kennel or cattery assistant, a pet store assistant, a rescue centre assistant, a farm worker, or dog grooming.
