Designed for anyone working within the motor industry as a nationally recognised qualification to demonstrate competence in a specific field, this IMI Automotive Technician Accreditation is aimed at those with advanced skills as a paint technician.
To achieve this senior status, you’ll be assessed across a number of different modules to check your knowledge and abilities are both up-to-date and at a high, industry standard level. This will include a focus on carrying out a cosmetic repair on a plastic component and the application of foundation materials, as well as rectifying a paint run and completing a three-stage pearlescent paint application.
You’ll receive official accreditation from the Institute of the Motoring Industry, and be placed on the IMI Professional Register as an approved Senior Paint Technician. The accreditation lasts for three years.
You’ll need to have all the relevant skills and abilities required to pass this advanced accreditation course, and that usually means a minimum of three years’ industry experience or a previous industrial qualification.
How will I be assessed?
Each module on this short course is assessed via practical means, but you will also need to complete an online test to check your industry knowledge is up-to-date.
Continuing Your Journey
A Senior Paint Technician is the highest recognised IMI accreditation in this specific field, but you could develop your skills and knowledge further and apply for a Master Technician status in another related area.Careers page
This accreditation is valid for three years, and will be extremely valuable in demonstrating your current advanced abilities in the industry and helping you to secure a rewarding career in the automotive sector.
