If you’re looking to expand your knowledge and understanding of vehicle electrics and would like to advance your career in the automotive industry, then this Level 3 Diploma in Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Principles could be the perfect course for you.
You’ll complete a number of different units over the duration of the course, to develop your knowledge and understanding of the roles required of you in the industry, and to give you hands-on practical experience diagnosing a range of complex electrical malfunctions and carrying out successful repairs. You’ll learn how to identify engine electrical faults, how to rectify transmission and chassis electrical faults, and what to do with auxiliary equipment electrical faults.
The course forms the knowledge component (technical certificate) of the IMI SSC Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Installation Advanced Apprenticeship framework and covers National Occupational Standards for the industry. You’ll be awarded a Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) from the Institute of the Motor Industry, which can then be used as credit towards the corresponding VCQ.
In order to enrol on this Level 3 Diploma in Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Principles, you’ll need to have a relevant Level 2 qualification in the automotive sector.
How will I be assessed?
During the course, your assessment will be made up of both online tests (including multiple choice questions and written assignments) and practical, hands-on tasks in the workshop, set by IMI.
Continuing Your Journey
When you’ve completed this Level 3 Diploma in Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Principles you’ll have the knowledge and understanding to look for work as a qualified vehicle electrical technician or other related careers in the automotive industry, with many of our students taking up rewarding positions as diagnostic technicians.Careers page
This Level 3 qualification is equivalent to an A Level, so you will also have the chance to advance further onto higher education, applying for courses like a HNC and HND in Engineering and Automotive Engineering.
