Course Details

  • This qualification aims to develop the knowledge and skills that will aid you in providing positive care for people with dementia and their families.

    The Level 2 Award consists of knowledge-only units and provides an awareness of the causes and symptoms of dementia.

    The course includes a number of different modules where you will:

    - Learn about dementia awareness and the person-centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia
    - Understand the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia
    - Understand equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care.

  • There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however, you may find it helpful if you’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification in the Health and Social Care area.
    It may also be useful if you have relevant experience in a Health and Social Care setting and a Functional Skills Level 1 English and maths qualification.

  • Over the course of your studies, you will complete a number of assessments including coursework and practical tasks.

  • Upon successful completion of this qualification, you’ll have the opportunity to progress on to the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
    It may also allow you to progress into employment in health settings, or adult and child social care settings in roles such as Healthcare Assistant, Support Worker, Personal Assistant, Social Worker, Health Psychologist, Nursing, Midwifery or Paramedic
