  • If you want to learn what it takes to become a successful barber, this NVQ Level 2 Diploma is the perfect place to begin, helping you develop your cutting skills in real, working environments.

Covering all the basic skills you’ll need to get started with a career in barbering, you’ll learn how to cut hair with traditional techniques, how to cut and shape beards and how to shampoo, condition, dry and finish men’s hair effectively. You’ll be able to choose certain units you want to focus in too, including changing men’s hair colour, learning how to run a reception properly and how to manage your own business!

The course is recognised by the UK’s leading professional authority in the industry, The British Barbering Association (BBA). You’ll be developing both cutting and office skills that will ensure you can succeed as either an employed, or self-employed freelance barber.

  • You won’t need any formal qualifications to join us on this course, but you should have good listening and communication skills, the ability to work in a team, and artistic flair.

We may also ask you to take a small initial assessment in English and Maths to ensure we can support you with the correct level of tuition.

  • Throughout the course, your practical skills will be regularly assessed to check you’re developing all the appropriate techniques correctly. You’ll be building a portfolio of evidence, which will also include online exams, written tests and practical observations.

  • With this Level 2 Diploma in Barbering, you’ll have a number of the necessary skills to follow your passion and secure employment as a junior barber.

You could also continue onto further courses with us at The Manchester College, developing your knowledge further with a Level 2 NVQ or Level 3 Diploma in hairdressing, opening up even more career opportunities in the industry.
