  • The Great British Bake Off has created a passion for all things cake related. If you love baking and want to learn how to decorate cakes, then this is the course for you.

    This highly practical, 10-week part-time course will give you the skills to sugar paste and marzipan to create models, flowers, decorate cakes using royal icing and sugar paste, food safety and health and safety.

    Whether you are simply passionate about cakes, work in a bakery, hotel, restaurant or an avid enthusiast, The Manchester College can offer the perfect course to provide you with the skills and knowledge to be successful within the hospitality and catering industries.

  • There are no formal entry requirements for this course, but you should have a passion for cake making and the enthusiasm to develop your skills and knowledge.

  • There is no formal assessment for this course. You will develop your practical skills throughout the ten weeks as you learn the techniques of cake decoration.

  • Once you’ve completed this introductory course, you may want to undertake a more advanced cake decoration or hobby pastry course to develop your skills even further.

    Each qualification you achieve will take you closer to your ideal job in the hospitality and catering industry, giving you all the skills you need to have a successful career. You could find yourself in a huge number of different roles in this sector, including bakers, flour confectioners, kitchen and catering assistants.
