This qualification aims to introduce learners to simple and basic skills in British Sign Language (BSL) to enable them to communicate with deaf people on everyday topics in accordance with the National Language Standards.
The qualification will be delivered in three units:
1. Understand basic information in British Sign Language
2. Develop strategies to acquire simple and basic British Sign Language skills
3. Take part in and follow simple conversations in British Sign Language
No previous experience of British Sign Language is required.
How will I be assessed?
The assessment for each unit will be carried out by a trained IBSL assessor (who may be the course tutor) and will involve a variety of assessment methods, some of which may be recorded.
Continuing Your Journey
You’ll have a wide range of options open to you after completing this Entry Level Award in British Sign Language. You could progress onto IBSL Level 1 Award in British Sign Language Studies and then IBSL Level 2 Award in British Sign Language Studies on your journey to amazing at The Manchester College.Careers page
