Whether you are simply passionate about chocolate, work in a bakery, hotel, restaurant or an avid enthusiast, The Manchester College can offer the perfect course to provide you with the skills and knowledge to be successful within the hospitality and catering industries.

    This three-week, part time day or evening course will take you through the journey and history of chocolate, how to work with chocolate and what specialist confections you can create with chocolate.

    Initially you will learn the wide range of techniques used when tempering chocolate. Secondly, you will put your theory into practice and produce delicious treats, ranging from chocolate truffles and modelling chocolate, leading up to your own chocolate show piece.

  • There are no formal entry requirements for this course, but you should have a passion for working with chocolate and the enthusiasm to develop your skills and knowledge.

  • There is no formal assessment for this course. You will develop your practical skills throughout the three weeks as you learn the techniques of chocolate making.

  • Once you’ve completed this introductory course, you may want to undertake a more specific cupcake, cake decoration or hobby pastry course to develop your skills even further.

    Each qualification you achieve will take you closer to your ideal job in the hospitality and catering industry, giving you all the skills you need to have a successful career. You could find yourself in a huge number of different roles in this sector, including bakers, flour confectioners, kitchen and catering assistants.
