Construction Skills

Are you considering a career in the construction Industry? If you'd like to develop the essential skills required for the construction industry and achieve a qualification, then this is the course for you.

This course is for learners interested in working in the construction industry, but are not yet ready to specialise in one trade. You will have the opportunity to develop the practical skills needed for a range of trades before choosing your progression pathway.

You will develop a range of technical and employability skills for bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, plastering and painting and decorating. You will also complete a mandatory unit on health and safety in construction and learn about the working in the construction industry.
As part of the course, you'll be able to develop your functional skills in English and maths alongside your construction skills. This will help fully prepare you for a successful career in the construction sector.

Work Experience is a vital part of the course and you will be supported in finding a work placement relevant to your study

Throughout this course you'll undertake a range of practical assessments in the workshop and written assessments for health and safety and working in the construction industry.

This course will allow you to progress to a Level Diploma in Construction Skills where you will continue to develop your technical and employability skills, and also your English and maths.
