Covering all aspects of art and animation in the digital industries, this Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technologies is an ideal course for anyone brimming with artistic talent and creative ideas. It will help you develop all the skills and techniques required by this constantly growing industry.
You’ll be working to industry standards and using the same software and tools that’s commonplace in this sector, as well as exploring new and developing technologies in art and design. From digital photography pieces to marketing materials for advertising campaigns, you’ll be using live briefs to build projects from start to finish, developing research, creative, and communication skills along the way.
Looking at traditional, 2D and stop-motion animation, digital painting and concept art, visual FX and compositing, and motion graphics, you’ll experiment across a number of different platforms and really explore what each role in this industry entails.

Work Experience is a vital part of the course and you will be supported in finding a work placement relevant to your study.
How will I be assessed?
Across this two-year course, you’ll be assessed on 13 different units and a final project. This will through a variety of methods, including traditional research, problem solving tasks and practical assignments, as well as using modern technology like audio recordings and screen capturing to check you’re learning the relevant skills and techniques.
Continuing Your Journey
There are several different pathways you can take after completing this Level 3 Diploma in Digital Art and Animation. You may want to move onto a foundation degree at The Manchester College or other related degree, in a subject like Animation, Graphic Design, or Visual FX.Careers page
Or, you could look at higher, degree level apprenticeships and develop your skills further in the working world. With a solid knowledge and relevant abilities learnt from the course, you could also jump straight into any one of number of careers in the creative media industry, including animation, production design, art direction or storyboard art.
Fees, Finance & Funding
If you’re 16-18 years old, without other Level 3 qualifications, you won’t have to pay tuition fees for this course. There may also be funding available for those with other circumstances or those over 19.Fees, finance and funding page
