Overview
If you’d like a general introduction to the field of engineering and want to learn more about what roles in the industry might be like, then a BTEC First Level 2 Diploma in Engineering is the perfect place to start.
You’ll start with an introductory topic that explores the engineered world, and then complete an additional ten units during the course, with each covering a different topic area. Some of the units you’ll study will focus on health and safety, engineering materials, as well as mathematics for engineering. You can then choose other units to study from a range of options once you start the course.
The course is designed to give you a good, solid understanding of the engineering discipline alongside the skills and knowledge you’ll need to progress onto further, more in-depth study, or employment in the industry. -

Work Experience is a vital part of the course and you will be supported in finding a work placement relevant to your study.

How will I be assessed?
Throughout the course, you’ll complete a number of different practical assignments and coursework as part of your assessment. You will also complete an externally set exam.

Continuing Your Journey
Once you have completed this Level 2 BTEC First Diploma in Engineering, you’ll have a good understanding of the industry to help you decide on your next steps. To expand your knowledge and skills, you could progress onto a Level 3 BTEC, and then a HNC or Foundation Degree in Engineering.
