This Level 1 Engineering qualification provides an introduction to engineering design and build projects for 16-18 year olds who might be interested in studying engineering at a higher level in the next academic year.
The award will give you the opportunity to develop sector-specific knowledge and skills in a practical learning environment with a focus on four areas of equal importance and will cover:
• Development of key engineering practical and technical skills, such as research, observation, measurement, making, using computer-aided design (CAD) and disassembly
• Knowledge of key engineering sectors (mechanical, electrical/electronic and engineering design) and the interrelation of each in industry
• Knowledge of the stages involved in planning and implementing an engineering project
• Knowledge and skills involved in the investigation of solutions to engineering problems in response to a given brief.
Applicants must possess GCSEs in English and maths at Grade 2 or Functional Level 1 in English and maths as a minimum requirement
How will I be assessed?
Study will be both classroom and practically based with a project-based learning approach.
You’ll be assessed through internal assessments on skills and knowledge and through an external assessment responding to an engineering brief.
