E-sports is often described as the “organisation of competitive gaming”, which is usually human versus human or in teams of people!
Whilst competitive gaming can be exciting to take part in, there’s a huge hidden business background for you to explore which clearly makes this industry as successful as it is. Want to learn more? Read on.
In studying our innovative E-Sports qualification at level 2 you will not only get an introductory insight in to how this is all organised, you will begin to learn the basic principles that make online businesses function.
You will be introduced to the coaching strategies that make up competitive gaming and learn how these make up part of a modern E-Business platform.
In order to be successful, you will learn how to build strategies for the first time whilst also applying technical and team work skills.
During the 1 year course you will study a variety of units and gain numerous skills that are geared towards analysing digital businesses and their specific marketing strategies for E-Sports and games.
These include:
• Planning and scheduling E-Sports / other gaming events and taking part in tournaments.
• Looking at how you could start and establish an E-Sports organisation.
• How to make use of streaming technologies.
• Understanding the business models that the gaming industry use including their online functions.
• Designing the basics of E-Sports games.
• Understanding how positive health and well-being contributes to a successful E-Sports organisation.
This exciting qualification has been designed with input from the British E-Sports Association. As with all of our programmes you will get interaction with employers and relevant work placement experience within the digital business industry. -
Entry requirements
Applicants must have 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or higher including English or maths and/or prior achievement at Level 1.

How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed through portfolio building, sketchbooks, group work, game development, online assessments, presentations and one to one feedback.
There are no formal examinations connected to this course. Students overall grade will come from combining all units assessed by tutors and moderated by the exam board at the end of the year.

Continuing Your Journey
Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners will be able to progress onto a wide range of courses in the digital sector. We have a direct pathway to Level 3 in E-Sports, which you can also find on our website.
