Course Details

  • Develop a wealth of experience and knowledge about events management, explore the dynamic sector worth around £40 billion annually and join the thriving, innovative events industry in Greater Manchester with this foundation degree.

    You’ll explore the strategic and operational aspects of the industry, building the skills and attributes from a range of subjects that will help you succeed with work in this industry. Take on the role of events manager and develop the knowledge to plan, manage and execute all types of indoor and outdoor events - from conferences and exhibitions to festivals and sporting events.

    Work experience is an integral part of the course, and you’ll benefit from industry relevant lectures, visits from guest speakers and industry visits, preparing you for an exciting career in an industry that supports a diverse range of businesses and associations.

  • You may be invited to attend an interview and may be asked to provide examples or complete a piece of written work.
    Mature applicants (aged 21 or over) who are able to demonstrate relevant skills or knowledge gained in employment or vocational activity will be considered and may be invited to interview.
    There is availability for Skype interviews for overseas/applicants who have to travel.

  • Completing project-based briefs, you will be assessed in a number of different ways on this degree, focusing on both practical sessions and theoretical work. These methods will include:

    • Reports
    • Learning journals
    • Presentations
    • Essays
    • Peer assessments
    • Portfolios
    • Exams.

    You will be required to complete study hours within college and self-directed study.

    You will also be expected to develop your skills in work based roles and will need to complete work experience throughout level 4 and level 5.

  • Successfully complete this foundation degree and you can advance onto a 1-year top-up programme in events management, delivered by MMU. You’ll also have the skills and abilities to take further courses on a range of professional pathways, both here and at other higher education institutes.
