    With physical inactivity estimated to cost the economy £0.9 Billion a year the skills and knowledge gained on the Foundation Degree in Exercise, Health and Fitness will be in demand. Potential roles in the NHS and private sector include Community Exercise Facilitators, Health Trainers, Exercise Referral Instructors, Physical Activity Specialists or Personal Trainers.

    In addition to gaining theoretical knowledge in subjects such as physiology, functional anatomy, kinesiology and exercise psychology you’ll develop practical experience in exercise prescription and assessment.
    Assessment is continuous and consists of practical reports and assignments, presentations, exams, practical assessments and case studies.
    Students can have the opportunity to gain additional REPS recognised qualifications, at a greatly reduced cost, in Fitness Instruction, Personal Training and potentially Exercise Referral.
    The course is delivered over 2 years full time or 4 years part time

  • Applicants should normally possess one of the following:

    Applicants should possess two A levels (an A level in PE would be an advantage), or a BTEC Level 3 in a related area.
    Minimum UCAS tariff points required: 64
    Mature applicants (aged 21 or over) who are able to demonstrate relevant skills or knowledge gained in employment or vocational activity are encouraged to apply and will be considered. Please state this clearly on your application.
    Applicants are welcome with vocational qualifications such as the Certificate / Diploma in Personal Training alongside relevant work experience.
    Entry from other courses is also acceptable such as professional qualifications, access to Higher Education, NVQ Level 3 depending on experience and satisfactory interview.

  • The course will be delivered via lectures, seminars, tutorial, practical sessions, guest speakers / visits, independent study. The course encompasses a variety of assessment methods, involving both individual and group assessments.

    The range of assessments used within the course includes, report writing, essays, presentations, portfolio submissions, examinations, practical and research based coursework assignments, work-based learning, demonstrations and practical project.

    You will be enrolled as an external student with Manchester Metropolitan University

  • Students can apply for a top up Level 6 programme in a related area based on university entry requirements.
