Designed for anyone with a passion for fitness and helping others, this Level 3 Diploma combines both a fitness instructor and personal trainer qualification, giving you the skills, knowledge and experience you’ll need to work as a fitness leader in a gym or health club, or set up your own personal training business.
Throughout the course, you’ll complete 10 different units, under the Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing and the Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training. Beginning with a look at understanding anatomy and physiology, you’ll explore the principles of exercise, fitness and health, alongside health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment.
You’ll then focus on planning and instructing gym-based exercises, as well as how to support those taking part in physical activities. For the Level 3 PT element, you’ll develop a deeper knowledge of anatomy, programmes and the delivery of training sessions, as well as learning about applying the principles of nutrition. Your final qualification will provide you with entry onto the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) as a Level 3 Fitness Instructor.
If you’d like to enrol on this Level 3 Diploma, you’ll need to have a Level 1 in Maths and English, and a keen interest in personal fitness. We’ll ask you to pass some basic English and maths tests when you apply.
You’ll also need to have a good level of physical fitness for this practical course, along with excellent communication and motivational skills, the ability to work independently and the ability to build a good client rapport.
How will I be assessed?
Your assessment for this course will be made up of several different methods over the course of the year, including: multiple choice theory tests on anatomy & physiology and nutrition; a test paper on the principles of exercise, fitness and health; the completion of an 8-week client programme and detailed programme cards; practical assessments; case studies and worksheets.
