The Pearson BTEC Level 1 in Health and Social Care is designed around practical skills and tasks that place an emphasis on you demonstrating what you can do rather than what you know in theory.
The qualifications give you the opportunity to acquire and develop generic, transferable and sector-specific skills for Health and Social Care in order to complete tasks and demonstrate a level of achievement that enables you to progress to further learning or into work.
The Award offers short introduction to the health and social care sector and, upon completion, you can then progress onto the Certificate.
The Certificate offers an introduction to the health and social care sector, after which you can progress onto the Diploma later in the academic year.
The Diploma gives you the opportunity to develop a broader range of knowledge and skills for further learning or work in the health and social care sector.
Each qualification type is made up of a number of different modules but you’ll study some of the following areas:
• Being Organised
• Developing and Personal Progression Plan
• Working with Others
• Researching a Health and Social Care Topic
• Communication Skills for Health and Social Care
• Marking Healthy Snacks When Caring for People
• Advising Others About Healthy Lifestyles
• Finding out about Health and Social Care Services
• Providing a Creative Activity When Caring for People
• Measuring Older Adults’ Fitness Levels for Everyday Tasks
Applicants must possess three GCSE’s at Grade 2 or above or an Entry Level 3 in Functional Skills in English and Maths or equivalent ESOL qualification.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through completion of coursework and practical activities.
Continuing Your Journey
Upon successful completion of the Pearson BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Health and Social Care, you’ll have the opportunity to progress onto the Pearson BTEC Level 1/2 First Certificate and then onto the Pearson BTEC Level 1/2 First Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care.Careers page
These qualifications will be useful for those already working or looking to gain employment in roles such as Support Worker, Personal Assistant or Healthcare Assistant in the health and social care sector.
