This qualification has been designed to provide in-depth knowledge and skills for the health and social care sector. It supports progression to a variety of health and social care related degrees.
The qualification will give you the skills and knowledge essential for progression to higher education or employment opportunities within the Health and Social Care Sector.
This programme is made up of a number of internally and externally assessed modules including:
• Human Lifespan Development
• Working in Health and Social Care
• Enquiries into Current Research in Health and Social Care
• Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs
• Principles of Safe Practice in Health and Social Care
• Promoting Public Health
• Physiological Disorders and their Care
• Nutritional Health
Applicants must possess a 5 GCSE’s at Grade 4 or above including English and Maths (Functional Skills Level 2 English and Maths will be considered)
How will I be assessed?
Over the course of your studies you will complete a number of assessments including examinations, coursework and externally assessed synoptic assessments.
Continuing Your Journey
Upon successful completion of the Extended Certificate you will be able to progress onto higher education which could include Pearson BTEC Higher National Certificate in Healthcare Practice, a Nursing degree or an apprenticeship (eg. Nursing Associate, Nursing, Management).Careers page
This qualification will be useful for those looking to gain employment in roles such as Healthcare Assistant, Support worker, Personal Assistant, Social Worker, Health Psychologist, Nurse, Midwife, Allied Health professional or Paramedic.
