Overview
This qualification is based on the National Occupational Standards for Beauty Therapy and includes all the required elements for you to work effectively as a beauty therapist.
You’ll develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety as well as the knowledge, understanding and skills to plan for and provide make-up applications, hair preparation services, fashion and editorial make-up and face and body painting.
You’ll also develop your abilities to ensure continuity services are adhered to for make-up application and hair services, whilst working on your skills to produce a total look for competition work.
This qualification will also help you improve communication and customer service skills, awareness of environmental sustainability and commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers in the beauty sector.
Through this qualification you’ll study the following mandatory units:
• Health safety and hygiene
• Make-up applications
• Hair preparation services
• Continuity planning for make-up services
• Dress and finish hair services
• Continuity hair services
• Anatomy and physiology for make-up artists
• Total look for competition work
• Face and body art painting
• Fashion and editorial make-up

Entry requirements
Applicants are required to have GCSE in both English and Maths

How will I be assessed?
You will be required to complete a range of technical practical assessments on clients and also 2 knowledge exam papers. Applicants will also take part in realistic work placement and evidence gained through witness testimony may also be used as evidence.

Continuing Your Journey
Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners will be able to progress onto our Level 3 Media Make-up qualification.
