(Full Time - 1 year)
This course will allow you to develop skills in music recording, Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) production and music creation and composition. You will also have the opportunity to choose between developing live sound skills or DJ skills and will plan, market and deliver a live music event as a group at the iconic Manchester venue, Band on the Wall.
Working alongside industry experts in the fields of music production and DJing you will use state of the art software such as Logic Pro and Ableton and develop your own creative projects. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside musicians and bands to create and mix recordings.
In the second year of the course, you will complete a large scale individual project where you will select an area of the music industry that appeals to you such as recording, producing, live sound, events management, DJing or composing. You will also complete a substantial collaborative project where you will plan, market and present a music product such as an event, festival or a recording as a group.
Learners will complete the Foundation Diploma in year one and will then have the option of topping this up to an Extended Diploma in year two.

Work Experience is a vital part of the course and you will be supported in finding a work placement relevant to your study.
How will I be assessed?
Much of this course will be focused on hands-on practical assessment, including live demonstrations, recording sessions, portfolio building and group work which will be assessed by your tutor.
Continuing Your Journey
Experience gained throughout the qualification will help you progress to Higher Education such as the BA (Hons) Creative Music Professions at The Manchester College or gain successful employment as a composer, sound engineer, promotor, music events manager, music producer or teacher.Careers page
