(Full Time - 1 year)
On this one-year course, you’ll learn about sound recording and mixing, taking a look at both the theory behind it and how it works in practice, using a range of the latest music software, in our state-of-the-art studios.
This practical knowledge will be underpinned with a solid theoretical base when you study acoustics and learn about the music industry and how to make money from your music. You will also learn about live sound operation in sessions at the iconic Manchester venue, Band on the Wall.
You don’t need to have any formal qualifications to enrol on this BTEC National Diploma in Music Technology, however we will invite you to come and meet us for an interview and you’ll be expected to show some prior engagement with and enthusiasm for music technology.
If you have successfully completed the Level 2 Music Technology, that will be beneficial – but it’s not essential.
How will I be assessed?
Much of this course will be focused on hands-on practical assessment, including live demonstrations, recording sessions, portfolio building and group work. There may also be some question and answer sessions with your tutor, and some written work.
Continuing Your Journey
Once you’ve completed this diploma, you’ll have the qualifications to continue onto a higher level course. A great next step would be to have a look at our HNC in Music Technology here at The Manchester College.Careers page
