Shena Simon Campus
(Part Time Released - 2 years)
Our Level 4 Paralegal Studies qualification is designed for anyone who has studied a law-based qualification at Level 3 or is working in an administrative role within the legal profession.
Paralegals may work in commerce, industry, or the public sector and they can also now offer some legal services directly to their own clients provided they have a Licence to Practise through NALP.
This course will provide you with a sound knowledge and understanding of both the English Legal System along with the Practical Skills required to work effectively as a paralegal. Upon achievement, you will be eligible to apply for Associate Membership of NALP (A.NALP). This will distinguish you as being a NALP qualified paralegal.
The course will run one day a week (three hours per week) and consists of ten modules to be completed over two year.
Applicants will require one of the following prior qualifications; an NALP Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in Paralegal Practice, two A Levels, an A Level in Law, a BTEC National Diploma (NVQ/GNVQ Level 3 or above), a CILEX Level 3 qualification; or ILSPAs Legal Secretary Diploma.
Applicants with experience of working as an administrator in a legal environment without a level 3 qualification would be considered but must have a Level 2 equivalent in English (either GCSE or Functional Skills).
To receive the full qualification, you will be required to complete and achieve all ten modules.
You will be given a four week window to submit assignments for each module:
- English Legal System
- Contract Law
- Law of Tort
- Criminal Law
- Wills
- Civil Litigation
- Criminal Practice
- Matrimony and Civil Partnerships
- Land Law and Conveyancing

Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners will be able to progress on to our Level 7 paralegal qualification or begin to progress in their career in law.
