NVQ Barbering

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Barbering is a job ready qualification based on National Occupational Standards (NOS).

This qualification will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently as an advanced barber. Throughout this qualification you will monitor procedures to safely control work operations, provide hairdressing consultation services, creatively cut hair using a combination of barbering techniques, design and create a range of facial hair shapes and promote additional services or products to clients.

Optional units will include some of the following;-
Provide shaving services
Design and create patterns in hair
Colour hair using a variety of techniques
Create a variety of permed effects
Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities

4 GCSE's of grade 3 or higher including English or Math's and/or prior achievement of a Level 2 Diploma in Barbering qualification along with a subject specific interview and a skills test.

The study programme provides an opportunity for you to develop a variety of practical, theoretical and employability skills. Within this qualification you are required to complete a minimum of 1 day a week of work experience

You will be assessed continually on your occupational competence. As part of this qualification you are required to
produce a portfolio of evidence containing practical assessment, exams and assignments.

This is an approved qualification for working as an advanced barber. It also provides a sound platform for further learning or training in:

Level 4 Certificate in Hair Colour Correction
Level 4 Certificate in Specialist Hair and Scalp Services
Level 4 Award in Advanced Hairstyling

There may be some additional equipment costs.
Learners are required to purchase a kit (Learners will be given approximate costs at interview)
All learners are required to wear a uniform costing approximately £42 and a black shoe.
