This Level 2 qualification is based on the national occupational standards for hairdressing and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a hairdresser.

You'll develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to ensure responsibility to reduce risks to health and safety, give customers a positive impression, advise and consult with clients, shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp, change hair colour, cut hair using basic techniques, style and finish hair.

You will also have the option to cover the following optional units;-
Fulfil salon reception duties
Promote additional services or products to customers
Develop and maintain effectiveness at work
Perm and neutralise hair

4 GCSE's of grade 3 or higher including English or Math's and/or prior achievement of a Level 1 Diploma in Hairdressing qualification along with a subject specific interview.

The study programme provides an opportunity for you to develop a variety of practical, theoretical and employability skills. Within this qualification you are required to complete a minimum of twenty four hours of work experience.

You will be on a course where assessment of practical observations supports your programme of learning.

You will build a portfolio of evidence and assessed continually through practical assessment, exams and assignments.

Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners will be able to progress onto Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing and Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing (Combined Hair Types)

Learners are required to purchase a kit (Learners will be given approximate costs at interview) and enclosed toe black shoes, with no heel.
