(Evening - 16 weeks)
Have you ever fancied learning about acting? Do you want to develop your skills and you confidence? Then this course could be the one for you. This is a largely practical course running one evening a week working on your performance skills.
You will learn how to tackle a script, how to create your own work and how to develop your practical skills of voice and physicality.
A mixture of coursework and practical assessment is used, with all written assignments embedded into your practical work. An example of assignment might be: to research directors, playwrights, practitioners or an era in history, to underpin your practical performance. The evidence you will provide will be in the form of log books or diary of your acting process and / or presentations.
• You will take part in a practical audition and interview, to assess your practical skills
• You must be able to learn lines
• Prior practical experience useful but not essential
How will I be assessed?
All assessments are internal and are made up of both theoretical / written coursework tasks and also practical performances or demonstrations of your practical skills.
Examples of what you will be studying:
• Practical performance skills including Vocal production and using your body
• How to interpret a script
• Preparing for a performance
• Rehearsal discipline
• Studying a variety of different performance styles and practitioners e.g. Berkoff, Brecht, Stanislavski, Strasberg.
Continuing Your Journey
Our students have successfully gone on to professional work within the Acting industry in Television, Theatre, Theatre in Education, Physical Theatre and Comedy. Other potential career paths include Directing (TV & Theatre), Scriptwriting, Drama Therapy, Teaching, Setting up and running your own theatre company, events management.Careers page
