This course aims to develop learners with existing knowledge and skills in gym instruction who would like to develop their skills and knowledge to pursue a career in personal training

All students will complete the four following mandatory units:
• Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health
• Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme

• Delivering personal training sessions

Learners who not have achieved a Level 2 Fitness Instructing qualification or an NQF Active IQ Level 2 Fitness Instructing qualification or equivalent will also have to achieve the following three units at Level 2:
• Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity
• Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
• Principles of exercise, fitness and health

Applicants will require a suitable Level 2 qualification in Gym Instructing.
The course requires physical exertion, and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary.
You'll also require Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths and English and, as there is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved, learners should also have basic skills in communication pitched at levels 3 and 2 respectively.

Over the course of your studies, you will complete a number of assessments including, coursework/projects, multiple choice examination, portfolio of evidence and practical demonstrations/assignments.

Progress on to degree-level study with our higher education partner, UCEN Manchester. Students progressing from The Manchester College will receive a cash award through the Achievers Scholarship. Click Here to explore courses and apply.
