Overview
This qualification is ideal if you work in health care settings or adult/child social care settings. It is also suitable if you would like to build on your knowledge and awareness of the prevention and control of infection, or if you are seeking employment in a health and social care environment.
Throughout the course, you will gain knowledge in a number of different areas including the principles of infection prevention and control, causes and spread of infection and cleaning, decontamination and waste management.

Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however, you may find it helpful if you’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification in the Health and Social Care area.
It may also be useful if you have relevant experience in a Health and Social Care setting and a Functional Skills Level 1 English and maths qualification.

How will I be assessed?
Over the course of your studies, you will complete a number of assessments including coursework and practical tasks.

Continuing Your Journey
Upon successful completion of this qualification, you’ll develop an understanding of methods of preventing and controlling infection, allowing for progression to the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
