Overview
The CILEx Level 3 Diploma in Law and Practice is the starting point for qualification as a Chartered Legal Executive (the third branch of the legal profession in England and Wales). The course follows the specification designed and accredited by the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) and the final award is granted by CILEx on satisfactory completion of the course.
The course consists of ten units in total which are typically studied over a period of two academic years (five units per year). The ten units studied provide a broad introduction to six major areas of law, two major areas of practice and the professional and ethical skills involved in legal research and client care.

Entry requirements
Applicants will need to have at least five GCSEs at a Grade 4 or above, including English Language. Consideration will be given to applicants who may be unable to meet these requirements but have experience of working in the legal sector.
Applicants who do not have an English Language GCSE at Grade 4 or above may be asked to complete a written English Language exercise to assess written communication skills.

Assessments for this qualification are made up of a variety written examinations and coursework.

Continuing Your Journey
Upon successful completion of this qualification students will be able to progress onto the CILEx Level 6 Diploma in Law and Practice, and work towards being a qualified Chartered Legal Executive. Students can also use these qualifications to develop a career as a judge or solicitor.
