In the T Level in Hairdressing you will develop a general understanding of the industry, studying topics that include:
o Business context, including how the Beauty sector operates
o Health and Safety regulations
o Safe working practices
o An understanding of the client journey
o Client consultation
o Sales and marketing
o Business practices
In addition to the core content, you will also complete a module of occupation specific content in Hairdressing covering a range of specialisms and learning outcomes to include:
o Analysing, shampooing, treating and conditioning the hair and scalp
o Using technical, precision, and bespoke cutting techniques to create a variety of fashionable looks
o Developing and use a range of styling and finishing techniques to create a variety of fashionable looks
o Colouring hair and carrying out bespoke colour conversions
o Providing smoothing and strengthening services
o Planning, creating, and promoting a collection of hair looks
Alongside your studies, you'll undertake a 45-days industry placement, as well as having regular guest speakers, workshops from industry experts, working to live briefs and more. You'll also be assigned a specialist employability tutor to support and prepare you for the world of work.
minimum of 5 GCSE's to include English & Maths at grade 4 and above. We will monitor and mark you based on your English, Maths & Digital skills as well as set exams and employer-set projects related to your chosen field of study at the end of the year.
With experience you could become a senior stylist or salon manager.
With further qualifications, you could also move into:
Trainer or Assessor
Open your own salon
Work in theatre, film or television
Some students may wish to progress onto HE with UCEN Manchester
There may be some additional equipment costs. Learners are required to purchase a kit (Learners will be given approximate costs at interview) and enclosed toe black shoes, with no heel.
