Our courses have been co-developed and are co-delivered by our industry partners to meet the needs of industry and prepare you for work in the sector.
Alongside your studies, you'll undertake a minimum 15-day (foundation year) or 45-day (T-Level) industry placement, as well as having regular guest speakers, workshops from industry experts, working, to live briefs and more. You'll also be assigned a specialist employability tutor to support and prepare you for the work of work.
All our courses will enable you to develop a general understanding of the hair and beauty sector, including:
-Business context, including how the sector operates
-Health and Safety regulations
-Safe working practices
-An understanding of the client journey
-Client Consultation
-Sales and Marketing
-Business practices
-Self-development
Occupational Specialisms covered:
-Analyse, shampoo, treat and condition the hair and scalp.
-Use technical, precision, and bespoke cutting techniques to create a variety of fashionable looks.
-Use a range of styling and finishing techniques to create a variety of fashionable looks.
-Colour hair and carry our bespoke colour conversions.
-Provide smoothing and strengthening services.
-Plan, create and promote a collection of hair looks.

English & Maths at grade 4 and above.
We will monitor and mark you based on your English, Maths & Digital skills as well as set exams and employer-set projects related to your chosen field of study at the end of the year.
With experience you could become a senior stylist or salon manager.
With further qualifications, you could also move into:
Salon Hairdresser
Trainer or Assessor
Become self-employed
Open your own salon
Work in theatre, film or television
Some students may wish to progress onto HE with UCEN Manchester
There may be some additional equipment costs. Learners are required to purchase a kit (Learners will be given approximate costs at interview) and enclosed toe black shoes, with no heel.
