Course Details

  • If you or your employees regularly work with vehicle tail lifts, this course is the perfect opportunity to ensure you’re fully aware of all the safety policies surrounding their use and can operate them in a legally compliant way.

You will look at the legislation around tail lifts and consider how this impacts the workplace. You’ll focus on health and safety regulations, analysing the need for regular checks of equipment before use, and also understand the importance of manual handling requirements and the need for effective back care.

During the course you’ll take part in practical tasks loading and unloading a vehicle using a mounted tail lift. This can be tailored to your individual needs based on the vehicles and loads used by your company. When you complete this course, you’ll receive a certificate valid for three years.

  • You don’t need any specific qualifications or requirements to take this course.

  • As you research relevant regulations on tail lift use, you’ll produce short presentations on their impact in the workplace. You will also complete both written and practical assessments on using tail lifts safely.

  • When you have completed this course, you’ll have the relevant skills and knowledge to operate tail lifts safely and effectively, in line with all current regulations and codes of practice.

You’ll also have the opportunity to develop your expertise further with a number of other workplace-related courses or driving licence acquisition programmes at The Manchester College.
