Meet the School Liaison Team
Meet the School Liaison Team
As a large college, we have a huge pool of talent to draw on. Our School Liaison Team come from a range of diverse backgrounds, meaning that every member of the team has something different to offer. Between us, we have experience in everything from music to teaching. We harness every bit of our knowledge to enhance our service to schools and students.
So who are we? Click on each team member to reveal a little more information about who we are and about some of our favourite sessions. You might even recognise some of us from delivering assemblies and classroom sessions in your school/sixth form or you might have met us at a careers fair or parents evening.
What do you like about working at The Manchester College?
I have worked for TMC for over 8 years and have loved every second of it, from the amazing people I work with including the school’s team, to getting out and about visiting schools across Greater Manchester. Every day is different, and every week presents a new challenge, but I wouldn’t change it! I am lucky in that I genuinely love my job.
What is your favourite classroom session to deliver?
I really enjoy delivering the interview skills session as I can use lots of past examples of when I used to recruit apprentices.
What do you like about working at The Manchester College?
I love my team and the inclusive culture of the college. There is something for everyone.
What is your favourite classroom session to deliver?
My favourite session is the Year 8/9 Options session. When I was in school myself, I found it challenging to make important decisions so young. Therefore, I like to see it helps young people with the challenges I faced myself.
Past experience
I completed my Level 3 diploma in childhood studies and then went to university and did a BA Honours degree in Education studies. Alongside my degree I worked as a supply teaching assistant across many different schools including primary and secondary. After completing my degree last year, I began working as a learning support mentor for an agency, which allowed me to work with a variety of schools and colleges. I was able to use the skills and experiences I gained in my previous roles to my current position.
What led you to work in this field?
I have always wanted to work in the education field because I find it rewarding to see young people achieve their goals and succeed. This job allows me to have a positive impact on the students that I work with as well as teaching them lifelong learning skills.
Past experience
Oh gosh, I’ve worked in a variety of fields, from the Youth Offending Service, the Ministry of Justice and the Fire Service, through to being a music tutor, a project administrator for a charity, and a sports massage therapist! It’s safe to say I’ve experienced a lot of different career fields, and worked in and alongside a number of different roles, which I feel assists me immensely in offering advice, guidance and options on career pathways for young people.
If you could quickly and easily learn any new skill, what would it be?
A new language, for sure! I know the odd word here and there in most European languages, but being bilingual is such an impressive skill, and I find studying languages really tricky, so I’d love for this to be easy to learn. I’d learn all of the languages!
Past experience
After completing my A-Levels in English, Photography and Dance I decided I wanted to do a short course in Media Hair and Makeup as I had a keen interest in this and later decided to offer Makeup as a part-time job. I actually studied this course at The Manchester College which I really enjoyed. I then decided I wanted to go to university and get a degree! I studied Early Years and Childhood Studies and achieved a 1st Class BA Honours. I also worked part time at a private day nursery whilst studying my degree.
After completing my degree, I then started working in a primary school as a Special Educational Needs Support Assistant. I always had an interest in working within education, I just wasn’t sure what career path to take. That’s when I discovered my current role as a School Liaison Co-ordinator at The Manchester College!
What led you to work in this field?
I have always had a keen interest in working within the education sector but unsure which career pathway to take. I love working with children and young people, supporting their development, being a part of their educational journey and hopefully inspiring their next steps and future career pathways. I always had a passion for working within the education sector!
Past experience
I come from a Dance background. I studied my Level 3 Extended Diploma in Dance straight from school and then I moved onto University of Chester where I continued to study Dance and completed my BA Hons. During my degree, I had an amazing opportunity of living and studying in North Carolina, USA. I competed, studied and travelled as much as I could- probably one of my highlights in my life so far. Since completing my degree, I have opened my own Dance school and completed my PGCE in Secondary Dance – this is where I found my love my working within the Education industry, which has led me to The Manchester College!

Past experience
I have had numerous roles in different fields of work ranging from Hairdressing, Aviation and then into Education. When I finished school, I completed an NVQ Hairdressing Apprenticeship which I loved. However, I really wanted to get into the education sector teaching and advising students in their education Journey. I started at TMC in 2019 as a receptionist and Administrator in student services and loved meeting students each day, advising and helping with their queries. Which then led me to be a part of the School Liaison Team, which I absolutely love! I love the flexibility, going into different schools across Greater Manchester, meeting new people every day and advising and helping pupils in making their future decisions.
Describe your favourite thing about working with the SLT team
