Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award
Have you got drive and determination? Maybe you’re considerate of your community and environment? Or you have a passion for problem solving and are driven by creative thinking?
Stop what you’re doing and look no further!
Completing a DofE programme helps set young people up for life and work. It gives you skills that employers look for and it looks great on your UCAS applications and CV.
Not only that but it develops resilience, confidence, gets you fitter and healthier and gives you opportunities to make new friends, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Every year, The Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) Award supports over 300,000 people aged 14 to 24. Founded in 1956 by its Patron HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, over 8 million people have taken part across the world, highlighting how the DofE can truly transcend boundaries of race, language, ethnicity and culture.
There are 3 possible levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The Manchester College focuses on helping students complete their Bronze award.
The award is achieved by completing 4 required sections:
- Volunteering: undertaking service to individuals or the community like helping with the family weekly food shop, volunteering in a local charity shop, or walking a neighbour’s dog.
- Physical: improving in an area of sport, dance or taking part in other fitness activities.
- Skills: developing practical skills like learning to bake or DJ, improving on social skills and personal interests by learning a second language, like sign language!
- Expedition: planning, training for and completion of an adventurous two day journey in the UK or even abroad.
Young people will achieve a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award if they show persistence, commitment and personal development over a period of three months.
Every young person of every background can take part and succeed, regardless of any barriers and we will here to help you along the way. Want to put yourself up to the task?
