The Manchester College students explore career pathways as part of unique internal event

As part of Industry Week, students from across The Manchester College met employers, apprenticeship providers and higher education institutions (including the College’s higher education partner UCEN Manchester to find out more about the different options available to them once they complete their studies. 

The involved stalls in the communal areas at the College’s campus, live skills demonstrations and talks from guest speakers about the fantastic variety of opportunities available to students when they enter the workplace.

Lily Pillips, a Childcare student who was in attendance, said: "During Industry Week, I learned about all the different options for when I finish my current course. I now have more knowledge of the childcare and education courses that many universities offer." 

During the week, Construction, Automotive and Engineering employers visited students at the College’s Openshaw Campus.  One of these was Joseph Dewhurst from Bam Construction who said: "It has been really exciting working with The Manchester College students and allowing them to find out more about our industry."

Gemmer Crozier, Director of Employability Partnership and Skills at the College, added: “We’re incredibly honoured to have such outstanding industry partners who continue to support the development of our students’ knowledge, skills and behaviours. Along with providing high-quality opportunities. 

“Events such as Industry Week enable us to showcase the vast amount of talent that we have here at the College along with stakeholders seeing some of their future talent pipeline.  A huge thank you to everyone who has made this week such a great success!”

Industry Week also coincided with National Careers Week, a one-week celebration of careers guidance across the UK.
