Aiming high in hairdressing
Otilla realised her passion for hairdressing at the age of 13. She applied to The Manchester College and started studying on the VRQ Level 1 hairdressing course.
Successful in progressing onto the VRQ Level 2 hairdressing course, Otilla is now working towards her NVQ Level 3 hairdressing qualification. As well as studying full time, Otilla juggles looking after her three children with working Saturdays at a local hairdressing salon. Otilla said:
From the age of 13 I wanted to be a hairdresser, so I’ve always been committed to this area. As my knowledge and skills have grown I’ve taken on extra responsibilities to keep myself up to date. Another key interest is supporting my peers to be aspirational.
When I started out as a hairdressing student I could not have imagined that I was going to go on to achieve so much, and I use my story as a tool to motivate. I want to make my peers aware that it is possible to aim high and succeed.
Otilia is a very confident person and has great passion for all that she succeeds in. She is a pleasure to teach and have around and is an inspiration to her peers.
