Amanda aims for a police career

Amanda arrived at The Manchester College with an intriguing story to tell and a desire to do well in her studies.

Growing up in Eastern Europe, Amanda listened to the stories her grandma told of times when the Communist government steered their lives. Things radically changed and Amanda found herself travelling to England and eventually Manchester for a new way of living. In her three years at high school, Amanda mastered the English language and achieved exam grades to be proud of.

She joined the College to study on the public services course. Not having an understanding of British politics, she had a lot of research to do. Amanda studied government policies, British Values and citizenship ideals, as well as codes of conduct relating to policing, emergency services and the military and organisation structures within our society.

Following her course, Amanda successfully secured a place at Cardiff University reading Criminology and is now completing her final year. She has achieved a great deal and is continuing on her journey to seek employment in the police service.
