Teacher education success at The Manchester College
Before Jordan started working in teaching, he worked in the games industry and was struck by the skills that he was able to share with new starters. Jordan’s passion for teaching came from when he started doing guest speaker slots at a local college.
I had taught for a year before starting the PGCE course. I wanted to become fully qualified so I could pursue teaching as a full-time career and because I knew there was a lot that I wanted to learn about education and training. I felt like I had a lot of skills to offer in the lifelong learning sector.
During his course Jordan had the opportunity to meet teachers from a lot of different backgrounds and teaching areas, and was able to share ideas and experiences.
The teachers on the course were very knowledgeable and have been incredibly supportive, and I have learnt a lot about how to develop my own teaching practice.
After completing the first year of the programme Jordan applied for a new job teaching at a new media-specialist UTC at the heart of MediaCityUK in Salford Quays.
I wouldn’t have had the confidence to do this without everything I’d learnt from my PGCE at The Manchester College. I’m really looking forward to developing my career further with the new skills I have developed.
